Olympic Torch

Apr 4, 2009 Author: Alikzam | Filed under: Uncategorized

You could be a 2010 Olympic Torchbearer. This upcoming fall the Olypmic Flame will make its way across Canada on its journey to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Would you like to carry the Olympic flame? You can sign up online. I signed up a few weeks ago. I’ve got my fingers crossed!

Last week at the local RBC branch Olympic athlete Andrea Holmes was showing off a replica of the 2010 Olympic Torch. I got my photo taken with my mom (left), Andra Holmes (middle), and me (right) with the Olympic Torch. The torch is very cool looking and quite a bit bigger than I thought! It’s not very heavy though. Too bad it wasn’t on fire… oh well.

There’s a whole bunch of magic on TV right now. I got this following list from the MAGIC eUpdate. If you subscribe to MAGIC magazine (and I sure hope you already do) then you will get this eNewsletter as well, but for those of you who do not… here it is.

“One Way Out
Monday, February 2nd, 9 and 9:30pm Discovery
The premise for escapologist Jonathan Goodwin’s new half-hour show One Way Out was first introduced to American viewers last April during a Discovery Channel special of the same name. During each of these ten episodes, Goodwin will be placed in elaborate and extreme situations by his team, only to then be left alone to find his way out. The first two episodes, airing back-to-back Monday evening, send the show’s host careening off a high-dive, tumbling down a hill in a locked barrel, and attempting to free himself from a rapidly spinning chair.

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
February 2nd ? 6th, 12:35am, CBS
Last April, television talk-show host Craig Ferguson saw Rick Thomas performing in Las Vegas, launching an affinity for the art of magic that would result in a week full of prominent magic talent taking the stage at his studio. Beginning Monday, The Late Late Show’s ?Magic Week? returns with Lance Burton on Monday, Jason Randal on Tuesday, Jason Hudy on Wednesday, and Ed Alonzo on Thursday. Rumor has it that Craig may try his hand at the magic for the Friday show. When scheduling your TiVo, remember that The Late Late Show actually airs very early in the morning, Tuesday through Saturday..

Included are Pam Thompson, Diana Zimmerman, Gay Blackstone, Coral Reveen, Francis Willard, Deana Shimada, Irene Larsen, Jan Jones, Nanci Keener, and more. If your cable package doesn’t include this documentary-only channel, DVD ordering information can be found on the film’s website: http://www.womeninboxes.com”

Up here in Canada we don’t get the Masters of Illusion show, but it looks like bits and pieces of it is appearing on YouTube.

Ali K. Zam Productions Presents Magician Leif David

Oct 22, 2008 Author: Alikzam | Filed under: Uncategorized

I’m proud to announce that I’ve changed my stage name to Leif David (Pronounced Layf).

I’ll explain why I made the change.I first began performing 15 years ago when I was 8 years old. When I started out the show was called “Ali K. Zam and the Little Bitty Magic Show”. I got my start by performing at daycares and seniors homes with my beautiful assistant— Yup, My mom. She was also my manager, my director, my driver, basically everything except the magician. The name worked perfectly when I was younger, but it no longer suits my image or my performing style. However, I’ll be keeping Ali K. Zam Productions as my company name.

My websites, phone number, and email address will remain the same.

Click the below image to read a funny newspaper article on me when I first started out. It was printed in the Westside Weekly on August 23, 1995.

Street of Cards TV

Sep 29, 2008 Author: Alikzam | Filed under: Uncategorized

I just came across the Street of Cards online, on-demand, magic tv station. They play stuff either streaming or you can choose to watch videos on-demand.

They also stream live from Las Vegas Jeff McBrides Wonderground on Friday Nights, Saturday Nights, and some other nights… I can’t remember which. Just go to http://streetofcards.tv/ to find a schedule.

They have a chat too with some great company. Don’t forget to check it out. Cheers!

Amazing AUDIO illusion

Jul 30, 2008 Author: Alikzam | Filed under: Uncategorized

A Shepard tone, named after Roger Shepard, is a sound consisting of a superposition of sine waves separated by octaves. When played with the base pitch of the tone moving upwards or downwards, it is referred to as the Shepard scale. This creates the auditory illusion of a tone that continually ascends or descends in pitch, yet which ultimately seems to get no higher or lower.
