If you’re a magician reading this, you’re probably already familiar with the name Joshua Jay. He’s the author of “Talk about Tricks” in MAGIC magazine, author of “Magic The Complete Course”, and has a slew of other accomplishments to his name. The Complete Course is a great book that I would recommend to anyone who’s just started out in magic, and to anybody who wants to re-look at some the classics. Don’t overlook this “beginner” book though, it includes some classics like Crazy Man’s Handcuffs.
Today Joshua Jay launched a brand new website and online magic retailer. I’m not sure why we need ANOTHER magic retailer, but, they do have some lofty goals how they are going to be different than whats already out there. To prove their serious – Joshua Jay released a 92 page eBook – all for free. It’s called “Over, Under” and is written for those serious about their magic who are under 18 years old. The first section is for the student of magic, and the latter half is for the parents to read. Check out the website to download your free copy. I won’t bother with all the details of the book since you can get it for free. You do have to register on the site to get your download, but from what I’ve read so far, its worth it.
Well it looks like the Blackpool magicians convention is over and the reviews are coming in. I haven’t heard any news of major screw ups, and nobody so far seems’ to be complaining, which has to be some sort of record for a convention that size!!

Its been really cool to see all the Blackpool magic pictures that people have posted on Facebook. Having people like Jeff McBride and Rudy Coby (Great to have you back buddy!) on my list means I get to see all the pictures that he’s tagged in. Its been funny to see all the comments on pictures from people who had their picture taken with David Blaine. In every picture he’s just standing there with a black expression on his face. He looks like he’s starving and been in a block of ice for 63 hours or something…

( Through facebook I can’t tell what albums are set to public or not, so I’m going to give you a bunch of links to some Blackpool photo albums. If some of the links don’t work for you, just let me know in the comments section. )

Cirque du Soleil of course! Last night my girlfriend and I went to go see the show “Saltimbanco” at Prospera Place. It was the second best live show I’ve ever seen (Mark Kalin and Jinger’s Magic Show being 1st)

The entire show from start to finish was just amazing. On one side of me was a mom and her 4 year old, and on the other side was a 30 year old girl and her date, and it was amazing to see both of them react in exactly the same way.
I’ve listened to Cirque music before and I’ve never really been impressed by it, but during the show it creates the perfect mood. The sets, the music, the choreography, all of it was just wonderful! My favorite part of the show was when a clown pulled somebody up from the audience and did a “do as I do” pantomime routine. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard before, i was in stitches for a solid 10 minutes.

[Left: This was my favorite costume from the show. Love it!]
At the end of August my girlfriend and I are going to goto Vegas, and now I’m pretty sure that we need to go see “O” while we’re there. I’ve had so many people say to me “Oh you’re going to Vegas? Don’t miss O!” So I’m pretty sure we’re going to have to go see that now.
After coming home from the Cirque show last night I began looking up circus stuff online. I came across this video from the Vancouver Circus School. It has some contact juggling, gymnastic silks, juggling, blue d’lights, and a really neat ring thing at the end that I’ve never seen before. I’d love to learn it though!
Speaking of the circus, I just saw an ad on TV for a new show on NBC called “Celebrity Circus“. The premise is that celebrities learn circus stunts and perform them in just 8 weeks.

I decided to create a Kimberly Wyatt wallpaper, with a Celebracadabra theme. Well, I searched online and I couldn’t find any, so I’m the first! woohoo.
