When people book me for a birthday party magic show, I send them a PDF that they can print off, fill in the information and send out. Its great because everybody needs invitations, and printing them off yourself at home is so fast, so easy, so cheep, and can be fun too.

I’ve decided to share that joy with the entire world by putting my birthday party invitation online. Just click the download link to open up the PDF. I hope to design more and when I do I’ll post them up on that website.

Actually, the invitations aren’t even on my Birthday Guide right now, but once I make a few more I’m going to include a link there as well. My guide is a work in progress! I did a birthday party just a few days ago for an 11 year old girl and at the start of the party the girls were making crafts with beads. It was the perfect activity for a birthday party so in a future edit of my guide I’m going to include that as well.

Whenever I goto a birthday party show one of my favorite things is to see how the area has been decorated. For birthday parties sometimes just a tidy up has been done, other times I feel like I’ve walked into a Martha Stewart photo-shoot with everything perfectly placed, and occasionally parents goto the extreme and there’s decorations everywhere! That last one is my favorite.

Like I said in my Birthday Party Tips page, if you do nothing else, make sure you put something outside your house to let people know they’ve found the right place. The easiest way to do this is to mark your address sign with some balloons. If your front door faces the street, another idea is to get one of those door banners. Below is a photo of a great idea I saw at a party recently, they put out a chalkboard sign welcoming everyone.

Once again, for getting the inside of your house ready for a party I’m going to direct you to my party tips page it really has the bare bones of everything you need to know. Decorating your walls with playing cards, streamers, balloons, colored plates, cups, and napkins is the easiest way to create a magical atmosphere. Also, don’t forget the music, its the easiest way to let everyone know its party time!

The performance area can be decorated a number of ways as well. Again, the standard route is to just tidy up the area and make sure that toys and things are put away. Most of the time the kids will just on the floor, but having the kids sit on cushions, or sitting in kids chairs can work well too. Setting up a curtain against the wall to make the space look like a theater works well, or adding a curtain to the entrance way. Another idea is to give each of the kids a “ticket” to see the show at the start of the party, and you collect them back from the kids before they enter the room to see the show.

New Birthday Party Tip

Jan 26, 2008 Author: Alikzam | Filed under: birthday party tips, personal news

I’m constantly trying to updates my websites and provide the best information I can. Today I did just that, I updated my birthday party tips page after an experience today. The new tip reads:

Try to avoid inviting children who are sick. A coughing or sniffling child could easily pass it onto your entire family and the rest of the kids. Also, a sick child will take the attention away from your child’s birthday party and distract from the magic show.

That comes from direct experience! Today at a show a little girl wasn’t feeling too good and she sneezed all over the place. It became distracting when the host was helping her clean up. The girl looked flush and almost looked like she was going to puke. She was insistent though that she wasn’t going to. The show went on without a hitch at all, but I can just imagine it now. A child becomes sick and vomits all over the living room during a show! So here’s the tip, Don’t invite kids to your childs birthday party if they’re sick.

Here’s another tip for the older people reading this blog. Don’t goto school if you’re sick. You’ll get everybody else sick and the teacher. At my college in my program it was so bad. People would come to school sick all the time because if you missed class you’d be so far behind it was impossible to catch up.
