Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock, you’ll know that Penn Jillette and dancing partner Kym Johnson were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars recently. Below is a funny interview they did on Jimmy Kimmel after the team was eliminated.

Today I sent out my March Magical Moments Newsletter. If you aren’t on my list and would like to join send me a quick email.
In this months newsletter I talked about a neat “body trick”, some birthday party decoration tips, a free giveaway contest, and some magic news with what I’ve been up to. I include contests and special offers that you wont find here on my blog, so don’t forget to sign up. ![]()
First off thanks to everyone who made it out last month’s OSM magic meeting. If you didn’t make it out, boy did you really miss out! We had a huge group with some old faces returning and some new faces too. We quickly got into the magic and I don’t think there was a person there who left without learning something.
The next meeting will be held on April 1st. I realize it’s April 1st, but, that’s really the date we got. If you’re interested in joining us or just want more information, please email me or call me. My contact information is available on my website.
I’ve seen the below video in various forms, check it out.
In the weekend edition of The Daily Courier known as “The Okanagan Sunday” Dorothy Brotherton included me in an article about young entrepreneurs! I’ve scanned the article, just click here to read the whole thing.

The resemblance is uncanny.
Here’s a picture that Luke drew for me when I performed at his 6th birthday party. This show was excellent, the family had seen me several times before, and they had some awesome decorations (all three pictures are from this party!).
Whenever I goto a birthday party show one of my favorite things is to see how the area has been decorated. For birthday parties sometimes just a tidy up has been done, other times I feel like I’ve walked into a Martha Stewart photo-shoot with everything perfectly placed, and occasionally parents goto the extreme and there’s decorations everywhere! That last one is my favorite.
Like I said in my Birthday Party Tips page, if you do nothing else, make sure you put something outside your house to let people know they’ve found the right place. The easiest way to do this is to mark your address sign with some balloons. If your front door faces the street, another idea is to get one of those door banners. Below is a photo of a great idea I saw at a party recently, they put out a chalkboard sign welcoming everyone.

Once again, for getting the inside of your house ready for a party I’m going to direct you to my party tips page it really has the bare bones of everything you need to know. Decorating your walls with playing cards, streamers, balloons, colored plates, cups, and napkins is the easiest way to create a magical atmosphere. Also, don’t forget the music, its the easiest way to let everyone know its party time!

The performance area can be decorated a number of ways as well. Again, the standard route is to just tidy up the area and make sure that toys and things are put away. Most of the time the kids will just on the floor, but having the kids sit on cushions, or sitting in kids chairs can work well too. Setting up a curtain against the wall to make the space look like a theater works well, or adding a curtain to the entrance way. Another idea is to give each of the kids a “ticket” to see the show at the start of the party, and you collect them back from the kids before they enter the room to see the show.

I hope you like these ideas and if you have anything to add please comment below!
Some of you may remember that a few months ago I took the girlfriend to go see Cirque Sublime in Vernon. Well, It turns out that Cirque du Soleil: Saltimbanco is coming to Kelowna’s very own Prospera place! We just couldn’t pass it up so we got 2 tickets. On the floor. Second row.
If you too want to get tickets you can get them from Select your tickets. Hope to see you there!
I’m a huge fan of Banachek and his work. The man is brilliant and he really lives his material that he performs. Below is an impromptu interview that a guy named Matt did with Banachek after a show which I can only guess was at a college.

Apparently Banachek no longer works as a consultant on Criss Angel’s Mindfreak, which I never knew. There’s a few people talking about it on the comments to that video as well.
I came across the video below before, but I guess I didn’t watch the whole thing, or I saw an edited version of it or I simply skipped through because I don’t remember lots of it. There’s a few cute stories and a few really good messages included. Its quite long, but worthwhile.
I found this over at Matthew’s blog. Here’s a video below of some Korean’s doing a routine that they took from Penn and Teller. Check out the Korean version first, then Penn and Tellers.
Penn and Teller version:
Check out what Penn had to say about it on his blog.
